Discovery Bay

Hongkong has always been quite accessible to us Filipinos with relatively cheap airfares and no visa requirements. Most of the people I know, even my family, would always stay at the busy areas of Kowloon or Central so imagine my surprise when my dad booked us at the very laid back Discovery Bay

We booked our rooms at Auburge Discovery Bay and we got to soak in this view every single morning during our stay. I made sure to wake up extra early to catch the sunset (and to have a little me time before the kids wake up). Best thing about the rooms at this hotel is the floor to ceiling windows especially if you love taking photos.

I've gotten used the hustle and bustle of Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon so this serene development was very much an unexpected discovery (pardon the pun) for me. Instead of seeing buildings, traffic and rushing people left and right, you can see families strolling along the streets with almost zero cars (hurray for their very efficient public transportation), trees, mountains and the sea. (Click on the photo thumbnails to view the captions.)

Of course, what's a visit to Hongkong without going to Disneyland? We had to make sure we got this done as soon as we arrived or else the kids will drive us crazy asking us when they'd get to see Mickey, Donald, Anna and Elsa! (Click on the photo thumbnails to view the captions.)

And since getting from one point to another is pretty much a breeze in Hongkong thanks to their very efficient transport system, we went to other areas such as Mongkok, Tsim Sha Tsui and Tung Chung. (Click on the photo thumbnails to view the captions.)

A few more tips for you guys in case you need it! Hope you enjoy your visit to Hongkong as much as we did! (Click on the photo thumbnails to view the captions.)
